Chang Ghar - Adapting to changing tides
Deutsche Welle | Dusty Foot Production
2025
Featured on DW’s Eco India show, this film explores Chang Ghars—the traditional stilted bamboo homes of Assam’s Mising community. Built along the Brahmaputra, these structures offer a resilient, eco-friendly response to annual floods. But as climate change intensifies flooding and erosion, this indigenous knowledge is under threat. The film celebrates the Chang Ghar as a powerful symbol of sustainability, adaptability, and harmony with nature.
Eco India - The Environmental Magazine is an initiative by Deutsche Welle, Germany’s public, state-owned international broadcaster. It features stories on environmental protection, sustainable practices, and technological solutions from across Asia.
