A Herder's Paradise

The Habitats Trust | Dusty Foot Production

2024  |  3 mins 42 secs

Pemba Nimba Bhutia has spent over 25 years in the mountains of Eastern Himalayas, Sikkim, herding yak and sheep. He believes in coexisting with nature but has seen the effects of climate change - rising temperatures, harsher snowfalls, and less rain. Pemba believes the new generation can improve this age-old tradition with science and technology, but he remains committed to the mountains, his way of life, and has no desire to move to the busy cities.

This film is part of ‘Stories from the Ground: Northeast India,’ a film series by The Habitats Trust and Dusty Foot Production, featuring 50 shorts by local filmmakers that celebrate the culture, traditions, and biodiversity of the region.
