Khapa: The Song of Nocte
The Habitats Trust | Dusty Foot Production
2024 | 4 mins 49 secs
In Borduria village, the Khapa songs are central to the Chalo Loku festival. With few leaders remaining, these songs are fading with the older generations. If the younger generation doesn’t learn them, the tradition - and a part of the Nocte identity - will disappear. Passing on traditions is essential to keeping a culture alive.
This film is part of ‘Stories from the Ground: Northeast India,’ a film series by The Habitats Trust and Dusty Foot Production, featuring 50 shorts by local filmmakers that celebrate the culture, traditions, and biodiversity of the region.
