The Habitats Trust | Dusty Foot Production

2024  |  5 mins 27 secs

Muga silk is one of the rarest silks in the world, renowned for its golden hue and unique properties. Found exclusively in Assam, it has earned the nickname ‘Golden Silk of Assam’. Muga silk is celebrated globally for its natural golden brilliance, fine texture, resilience, and humidity absorption, which contributes to its longevity. However, climate change is threatening the survival of these silkworms, raising concerns about Assam's ability to protect this precious resource for future generations.

This film is part of ‘Stories from the Ground: Northeast India,’ a film series by The Habitats Trust and Dusty Foot Production, featuring 50 shorts by local filmmakers that celebrate the culture, traditions, and biodiversity of the region.
