Vanishing Scavengers: A Conservation Story of Vultures

The Habitats Trust | Dusty Foot Production

2024  |  4 mins 11 secs

Vultures play a crucial role in maintaining balance within the ecosystem and food chain by efficiently disposing of animal carcasses, preventing the spread of disease and pollution. At the Vulture Conservation Breeding Centre in Rani, Assam, efforts are underway to breed the Critically Endangered Slender-billed and White-backed Vultures, restoring their population while raising awareness among the younger generation about the importance of these vital species for a healthy environment.

This film is part of ‘Stories from the Ground: Northeast India,’ a film series by The Habitats Trust and Dusty Foot Production, featuring 50 shorts by local filmmakers that celebrate the culture, traditions, and biodiversity of the region.
